The National Park Service preserves the unimpaired natural,
historic, and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of
this and future generations. There are nearly 400 parks in the system, including Ellis Island. The Service cooperates with
partners to extend the benefits of resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout the country and the world.
Save Ellis Island, Inc. is the non-profit organization
dedicated to raising awareness and funding to and rescue and reuse the deteriorated buildings on Ellis Island. In
partnership with the National Park Service, Save Ellis Island, Inc., is working to restore the remaining buildings of Ellis
Island as a setting for the Ellis Island Institute, a non-profit center to foster discussion on issues relating to the
contemporary and historic themes of Ellis Island.
